How To Party & Relax In Ibiza

So for our annual holiday this year, we decided we wanted to find somewhere where we could relax during the day, sunbathe, swim etc but come night time we didnt want to be stuck to hotel entertainment. We had never went on a package holiday so we were unsure of what to expect.

Cue The White Isle!

If you’re from Britain, Ibiza is typically viewed as a drug-fuelled party island for 20somethings refusing to grow up. And it can be that… if you let it. However the island holds plenty of old spanish culture and mystery if you look in the right places.

After a scrutinising TripAdvisor for the perfect hotel, we found The Hotel Palmyra.

Location

The Palmyra is right on the promenade of San Antonio which allowed us easy access to the beach via our hotel pool area – a key factor in our choice. We knew people like to get up early and book sun loungers, and frankly I can’t be bothered with that malarky!

Its just metres from Ocean Beach, local shops, the marina, main bus station, the west end and good quality restaurants.

General Vibe

As an adult only hotel, the general feel for the place was quite laid back and relaxing. If you wanted to join them, the animation team were fun and lively, and were great at getting young and old mixing together in activities. It was a great way to break up your day and get out the sun for an hour. The hotel also offered pool-side massages for a small fee, which I thought was a great addition.

Partying Options

West End
Obviously if you’re going to Ibiza to party, you dont stay in your hotel. The Palmyra was situated just a short 10 minute walk away from The West End, San Antonios main bar strip. There are plenty of drinks deals and bargains to have, but if you’re not careful you will be passed out in bed for 10pm! I think one of the ones we got was 2 vodkas, 2 beers, pint of cocktail and 4 shots for €12 (£9) – not bad but lethal!

Sunset Strip
The sunset strip is what it is – a strip of quite expensive bars along the jagged seafront where everyone goes to watch the beautiful sunset. The most popular bar is Cafe Mambo – a place where DJ’s play a set before heading to the super clubs around 11pm. Drinks and food is pretty expensive but most people buy a few beers from the local shop and sit down on the seat front to watch the sunset (you can still hear Mambo’s music!)

Have you ever been to Ibiza? Would you rather party or relax on holiday? Or perhaps do a bit of both?
